Prayer Band

Two or Three in My Name

HAVE WE A FULL understanding of Matthew 18:19-20? "Again I say unto you, That if two of you shall agree on earth as touching anything that they shall ask, it shall be done for them of my Father which is in heaven. For where two ot three are gathered together in my bame, there am I in the midst of them." Verse 20 is dependent on the conditions of verse 19.

Surely the Lord Jesus Christ meant exactly what He said. Here is definite scriptural basis for our Child Evangelism Fellowship prayer bands - not large prayer meetings, but prayer duets or trios! Prayer Band

So often Christians feel that if they cannot meet in a large prayer group it isn't worthwhile. This is used as an excuse by believers not to attend a prayer meeting. "So few come; I can't afford to waste my time to go!"

There are many advantages to a small prayer band. Usually these may be those who will pray intimately and confidentially. And where there are only two or three, more intimate prayer needs may be expressed,

We define a prayer band as "two or more persons meeting at a definite time each week to pray for the ministry of CEF™. "

There are many Christians who are looking for fellowship and will gladly covenent to meet with one or two others once each week to pray definitely for the children's salvation and for the ministry of Child Evangelism Fellowship. It is much easier to find time that is common and convenient to two or three people than for a crowd. Gathering in this way gives full scriptural authority to claim the special presence of the Lord Jesus Christ in the midst.

Members of a family can constitute a prayer band. A husband and wife, or a brother and sister can pray regularly each week for the ministry of CEF.

Often saints of God are confined to hospital beds, nursing homes, or their own homes. You can be a blessing by joining with them at least once a week to pray together for the workers and the children. This meeting could then be reported to your local director as a prayer band. It can be a tremendous help to the work and a blessng to you and to the one with whom you meet.

Several years ago a CEF worker suggested to a blind man who was burdened for this work that he start a prayer band. Later the workers had opportunity to talk with this brother and he made this remark. "I am just overwhelmed with the responsibility that I have in the work of the Child Evangelism Fellowship." We must bot rob these of such blessings.

Our greatest need in CEF is for workers. Jeus gives the way for meeting this need in Matthew 9:37-38. All our needs will be met if we are faithful in prayer (John 14:14).

The need of prayer:

 1. For the spiritual strength of our workers
     (Colossians 1:9-11)

 2. For wisdom (James 1:5)

 3. For guidance (Psalm 32:8)

 4. For peace and calmness in meeting the
problems of the day (Philippians 4:6-7)

 5. For daily physical strength (Psalm 18:2)

 6. For strength to resist Satan (James 4:7)

 7. For the financial needs (Philippians 4:19)

 8. For the children (Matthew 18:14)

 9. Specific request - if there is a CEF
director in your area, he will gladly give
you prayer requests and prayer praises
     regularly.

If you cannot report your prayer band to a local CEF director, write the national office for the contact information of the chapter nearest you.
